Why Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ Will Disappoint
Source: @thealexknapp & Forbes
#screenwriting #writer #director
“Deadline is reporting that Russell Crowe has been signed to play the role of Noah in Darren Aronofsky’s big-budget adaptation of the Biblical story. I’ve been following the thread of this movie’s development over the last year because I compulsive follow Aronofsky, who I’ve loved ever since his first film Pi was released in theaters. However, even though I’m a big Aronosky fan, I’m a bit ‘blah’ on the upcoming Noah’s Ark movie.
That’s not because I don’t think Bible stories make for bad movies. Quite the contrary – I think it’s a shame that they’re rare. Bible stories are great fodder for adaptation. Screwed-up heroes who do great deeds are the best stories. (One thing that gets lost, sad to say, is how messed-up the great men of the Bible were. That’s part of what make them great, in my opinion, but they’re invariably scrubbed in the re-telling.)…..”
